The machine can accommodate workpieces as large as 94.5" × 70.9" that weight as much as 10,000 lbs.

Methods Machine Tools’ new Precision Center in Massachusetts is said to be the first of its kind in North America for precision machining. The test cut center will enable Methods’ customers to arrive at accurate and efficient machining solutions for complex components, saving them trial and error in their operations.

Designed and built by Methods, the center offers a climate-controlled environment that monitors and maintains temperature, air pressure and humidity. To maintain environmental stability, the Precision Center features a secured airlock entrance and exit. The building also has meter-deep isolation pads with vertical and horizontal steel reinforcements for machining stability.

“North American manufacturers can send parts, tooling and material to our Precision CCMT Insert Center without having to go outside the country. Intricate, challenging, tight-tolerance and confidential test parts can be made right here in the U.S.,” says Jerry Rex, XNMU Insert president and CEO.

How to choose the right Turning insert?

With the popularity of CNC machines,the application of carbide inserts has increased significantly ,Turning insert is one of the most widely used tools in cutting area.

The selection of turning inserts depends on several parameters:

The SEMT Insert Application, the workpiece hardness ,Machine stability, workpiece clamping stability, are important factors for turning tools selection.

When selecting the geometry of insert :

For finishing and semi-finishing machining, use positive inserts with a small corner radius of 0.2 or 0.4mm.

For continuous medium cutting, use a negative insert with an average corner radius of 0.8 to 1.0mm.

In case of an interrupted cut or higher depth of cut, increase the corner radius in order to strengthen the cutting edge.

In case of unstable conditions such as low clamping stability, machining with low power consumption, or machining parts with a high overhang, use a positive insert with a small corner radius to help reduce the cutting forces.
